Associate Therapist (AMFT/ACSW)

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Associate Therapist (AMFT or ACSW) to join our multidisciplinary team. This role provides an opportunity to work with individuals, families, and groups experiencing mental health and substance use challenges in a supportive and collaborative treatment environment. The Associate Therapist will conduct assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, facilitate therapeutic services, and contribute to the overall quality of client care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments and evaluate clients’ mental health and substance use treatment needs.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessments and client goals.
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy utilizing evidence-based interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and other clinically appropriate modalities.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational and process groups within PHP and IOP levels of care.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary treatment team to coordinate care and support positive treatment outcomes.
  • Monitor client progress, treatment engagement, and clinical stability throughout the course of treatment.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Provide crisis intervention and risk assessment as clinically indicated.
  • Participate in weekly clinical meetings, case consultations, and treatment team discussions.
  • Remain current with emerging research, evidence-based practices, and ethical standards within the behavioral health field.

Supervision & Professional Development

  • Receive weekly individual and group clinical supervision from the Clinical Director.
  • Participate in case conceptualization, treatment planning, ethical consultation, and professional development activities.
  • Gain clinical experience and support toward licensure requirements within a collaborative learning environment.

Qualifications

  • Active registration with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an AMFT or ACSW.
  • Experience working with diverse populations in mental health and/or substance use treatment settings.
  • Experience facilitating group therapy and psychoeducational groups.
  • Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and treatment planning skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, client-centered, and culturally responsive care.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within PHP, IOP, residential, or outpatient behavioral health settings.
  • Familiarity with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
  • Training in evidence-based treatment modalities such as CBT, DBT, MI, or trauma-informed care.
