Website Therapy for Highly Sensitive People
Therapy for those with tender hearts and sensitive souls.
We are excited to find the perfect Associate Therapist to join our clinical team!
Therapy for Highly Sensitive People is a boutique private practice based in CA. We provide teletherapy services to clients throughout California. We are a values-based practice that prioritizes compassion, empathy, and unconditional positive regard in our work with clients and with each other. The mission of the practice is to help HSPs better understand their brain and nervous system so they can begin to embrace the gifts of their sensitivities and learn to love their tender souls.
Founded in 2021 by Christine Tomasello, LMFT, Therapy for Highly Sensitive People was created to provide high-quality, accessible therapy services to Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) throughout the state. We consider being highly sensitive as gift, not a flaw. And, we also know that being an HSP can make life’s ups and downs harder than they need to be. We offer therapy support for a variety of challenging life experiences, including grief & loss, anxiety, depression, major life changes, and relationship issues… all through the lens of being highly sensitive.
Therapy for Highly Sensitive People strives to be a safe and inclusive therapy space for all clients. We are a self-pay practice that offers full rate, “pay what you can” rates, and Open Path rates to clients in financial need to ensure our services are accessible to a variety of socioeconomic statuses.
What we are looking for
Therapy for Highly Sensitive People is hiring for a part-time Associate-level therapist (AMFT or APCC) to provide teletherapy for clients throughout the state. Caseloads will develop at a slow and steady pace, with the expectation to build and maintain about 15 completed sessions per week over time. Since it will take time to grow to a full caseload, this position is suited for someone who is eager to learn about private practice, grow their experience, enhance their clinical skills, and deepen their knowledge while working in a full time role elsewhere or taking a slower pace toward licensure. This position is also ideal for an Associate therapist who wants to start building their caseload while collecting hours to prepare for their own private practice once licensed.
Our ideal candidate is passionate about working with HSPs and has an interest in working with HSP clients who are struggling with grief & loss, depression, anxiety, or major life changes, or in providing therapy for highly sensitive therapists.

Practice Philosophy for Clinical Supervision
Christine currently provides all clinical supervision for Associate Therapists at Therapy for Highly Sensitive People. She identifies as a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP) and uses an HSP framework to guide her therapy work, specializing in grief & loss, life transitions, and therapy for therapists. Christine practices from a humanistic, client-centered philosophy, and combines an inclusive, trauma-informed approach with a strengths-based and psychodynamic lens in her clinical work, and integrates aspects of narrative therapy, attachment theory, CBT, ACT, SFBT, and DBT in her interventions. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is critical to positive client outcomes and will help new therapists develop clinical skills to excel in their areas of interest. Supervision will not only focus on interventions, but will also integrate an exploration of various theories to help Associates identify specific orientations to use as frameworks for case conceptualization.
Therapy for Highly Sensitive People supports ongoing development for all therapists and encourages Associate Therapists to explore various modalities and theories as they develop their clinical skills to see what orientations work best for their clinical practice.
