About Mindful Growth Foundation

Mindful Growth Foundation (MGF) is a licensed Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program (STRTP) serving youth impacted by trauma, system involvement, and complex behavioral health needs. Our clinical team provides trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and family-centered services grounded in the Integrated Core Practice Model (ICPM) and the Child and Family Team (CFT) framework.

Position Summary

The Therapist / Mental Health Specialist provides direct clinical services to youth and families in MGF’s STRTP. This includes assessments, individual therapy, family therapy, crisis intervention, treatment planning, rehabilitative services, and participation in the CFT process. The Therapist collaborates with clinical, residential, and administrative teams to ensure regulatory compliance, high-quality care, and progress toward stabilization and reunification goals.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Registered or licensed with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) as:
  • AMFT, ASW, APCC, LMFT, LCSW, or LPCC.
  • Minimum 2 years providing clinical services to adolescents and families (STRTP, foster care, or community mental health experience preferred).
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and evidence-based modalities.
  • Valid California Driver’s License and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to meet all pre-employment requirements, including DOJ/FBI clearance, health screening, and TB test.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of Title 22LACDMH, and STRTP regulatory standards.
  • Clinical competence in assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and documentation.
  • Experience working with youth experiencing complex trauma, behavioral instability, and co-occurring conditions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including EMR documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across clinical, residential, and administrative teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including participating in an on-call rotation.

Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesClinical Services

  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments, diagnostic formulations, and treatment plans.
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy using trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches.
  • Participate in CFT meetings and collaborate with case managers, social workers, and external stakeholders.
  • Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and rehabilitative mental health services.
  • Maintain timely, complete, and compliant documentation in alignment with EPSDTLACDMH, and STRTP standards.
  • Coordinate discharge planning and ensure linkage to community supports.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with the Head of Service, Therapists, ICC, and Residential team to ensure continuity of care.
  • Serve as a liaison between MGF and external agencies (DCFS, DMH, Probation, schools, community providers).
  • Provide consultation and training to staff on trauma-informed interventions, de-escalation, and youth mental health needs.

Administrative & Compliance

  • Attend supervision, staff meetings, and all required trainings.
  • Participate in audits, quality improvement processes, and documentation reviews.
  • Adhere to HIPAA, confidentiality laws, ethical standards, and agency compliance requirements.
  • Participate in on-call or after-hours coverage as assigned.

Other Duties

  • Duties may evolve based on clinical or program needs.
  • Therapists may be assigned to different MGF program sites or community service locations.

Physical & Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed.
  • Work in a residential environment with possible exposure to crisis or high-stress situations.
  • Ability to drive within the community to attend meetings, home visits, and appointments.
